- Wear the glasses or contact lenses you normally use for driving if you want to check vision with correction.
Understanding the Result
A weaker result in one eye, difficulty reading familiar lines, headaches, or noticeable differences between the two eyes are reasons to arrange a professional eye exam. A home test cannot determine whether you meet your state’s licensing requirement, because the DMV may use a machine, a wall chart, or a state-specific procedure. Bring your usual corrective lenses to the appointment and follow your state DMV’s instructions.
