- Make a test version. Use an old T-shirt, inexpensive knit, or scrap fabric to create a trial garment. Check the fit around the chest, shoulders, neck, legs, and belly before cutting your final fabric.
- Sew the final pajamas. Soft fleece, jersey knit, cotton flannel, or another comfortable fabric may work well, depending on the pattern. Finish seams neatly and avoid hard decorations, loose strings, or closures your dog could chew.
Practical printing tips
- Print on standard US Letter paper unless the instructions specify another size.
- Select Actual Size or 100% scale. Do not use “Fit to Page” or automatic shrinking.
- Print the page containing the test square first. Measure it with a ruler before printing the complete pattern.
- Use regular paper for the first version and heavier paper or tracing paper for a reusable copy.
- Label each assembled piece with its name, size, fold line, grainline, and seam allowance.
- Prewash fabric before sewing so the finished pajamas do not become too small after laundering.
Introduce the pajamas slowly and supervise the first few wearings. If your dog pants, scratches, chews the fabric, or appears uncomfortable, remove the garment and revise the fit or choose a simpler design.
